CoinGecko’s co-founder, Bobby Ong, recently reported a fresh DNS attack against Squarespace’s domain registrar, and users are on high alert.

Multiple domains have been compromised, exposing them to vulnerability and hijacking. He warned users to stop interacting with cryptocurrency for the next few days until the issue is resolved.

This has been exacerbated by the recent migration of domain registrations from Google Domains to Squarespace. On June 15, 2023, Google had a definite agreement with Squarespace to sell all domain registrations and associated customer accounts.

Two-Factor Authentication Removed During Migration

According to Bobby Ong, the forced migration removed two-factor authentication from many accounts, leaving them open to attack. Since the deal between Google and Squarespace is complete, users have become Squarespace customers.

However, Google said the transition won’t instantly affect Google Domains accounts. It simply means that people can log into Google Domains to handle existing domains until such actual migration to Squarespace occurs, which may be a few months away.

Squarespace will automatically manage related Google Workspace services, subject to limited exceptions. If any further action is needed, Squarespace will contact you directly.
